You Be The Boss: How would you shape the Oilers?

The Edmonton Oilers were well on their way to making a second Stanley Cup playoff appearance in 14 years when the COVID-19 pandemic put a pause on the 2019-20 NHL season in March.

Unfortunately for the Oilers, their Return to Play campaign lasted a disappointing four games, losing to the Chicago Blackhawks in the qualifying round. So technically, the Oilers failed to qualify for the NHL playoffs for the 13th time in the past 14 years, which is particularly disappointing considering they had the two top scorers in the league on the roster in Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid.

Draisaitl deservedly won the Hart Trophy and Ted Lindsay awards to go with his Art Ross Trophy, which were nice consolation prizes considering the disappointing end to the season.

Draisaitl and McDavid were not the issue during the best-of-five series against the Blackhawks, who were well out of the playoff race but handed a lifeline in the 24-team qualifying
