Finding some common threads in Oilers’ GM Ken Holland’s nine October signings

Three weeks into free agency and all’s quiet on the western front. The Edmonton Oilers had a burst of activity early in the month, signing no fewer than eight players in a four-day span. Since then, a single internal signing of of a player already under contract, extending him for the 2021-22 season.
