Flames’ Tkachuk aims to prove how high his ceiling is this season

Matthew Tkachuk has been called a pest. He’s been called an antagonist. He’s been called a whole lot worse by a whole lot of opponents.

Anyone who still thinks those labels are an accurate representation of who Tkachuk has become as a player, though, simply hasn’t been paying attention.

Yes, he still doesn’t shy away from getting under the skin of his opponents, but Calgary Flames fans have watched him grow and develop into a legitimate offensive force in his four years with the Flames.

If the rest of the country hasn’t caught on, well, playing against only Canadian teams in the North Division this NHL season pretty much guarantees that they’re about to find out.

After leading his team in scoring last year, Tkachuk has been open about the high expectations he’s placed on himself for the 2021 season.
