GARRIOCH: Just how busy the Ottawa Senators will be at this year’s trade deadline is hard to predict

The Ottawa Senators will hit the mid-point of the schedule Monday night in Edmonton.

With 35 days until the NHL trade deadline set for Apr. 12 at 3 p.m. EDT, there’s been no shortage of chatter amongst general managers with this 56-game shortened season taking place at a rapid pace. Still, it’s hard to know just how busy Ottawa general manager Pierre Dorion and the rest of the hockey operations staff will be this spring.

As the Senators prepared to face the Calgary Flames Sunday night at the Saddledome and the Edmonton Oilers Monday night at Rogers Place Arena, the club was sitting 11 points outside of the final playoff spot held by the Montreal Canadiens with 30 games remaining.
