WARREN’S PIECE: More patience required as trade deadline day is again more about tomorrow than today

After another trade deadline day that was full of subtractions rather than additions, the Ottawa Senators’ braintrust should, at some point, thank their fans for exercising great patience.

We have heard from owner Eugene Melnyk, but that was more about taking issue with his detractors, suggesting to The Hockey News that they will need to go into hiding if the team turns the corner and eventually makes the leap to become a Stanley Cup contender. If Melnyk wanted to alienate the fans further, mission accomplished.
